Marriage is built on trust, love… and sometimes scaring the living daylights out of each other for fun. Last night, I decided to prank my husband with the oldest trick in the haunted book — the ghost prank. And let me just say, his reaction was so hilarious, I almost scared myself laughing.
It started with a plan. He had just finished watching a spooky movie (perfect timing), and I knew his imagination was already warmed up. So while he was brushing his teeth and getting ready for bed, I snuck off with a white bedsheet, some Bluetooth speakers, and my inner Oscar-worthy acting skills.
I dimmed the lights in the hallway, hid behind the door, and connected my phone to the speaker playing creepy whispering sounds. I wrapped myself in the sheet like a ghostly burrito, took a deep breath, and waited.
He stepped out of the bathroom, yawning, totally relaxed. I crept out slowly into the hallway, dragging my feet like a ghost from an old horror movie. He looked up — and froze.
First, he blinked like he was trying to reboot his brain. Then came the slow-motion realization. His eyes widened, his mouth dropped open, and he let out the most dramatic gasp I’ve ever heard. I mean, Oscar-worthy.
Then — and this is the best part — he screamed, grabbed a pillow, and threw it at me like it was a holy weapon. When that failed, he tried to run… straight into the bedroom wall. I couldn’t hold it anymore. I dropped to the floor laughing, sheet and all.
He just stood there, gasping, clutching his chest like he’d seen death itself. “YOU’RE CRAZY!” he shouted, half-laughing, half-terrified. “You wanna give me a heart attack?!”
Once I finally stopped laughing (okay, 10 minutes later), I showed him the video I secretly recorded. He couldn’t believe how ridiculous he looked. We both ended up crying from laughter and rewatching it a dozen times.
Later that night, while we were cuddling in bed, he whispered, “Just wait. Revenge is coming.” So now I sleep with one eye open… and no more horror movies for him before bedtime.
Honestly, his reaction was priceless — the perfect mix of fear, confusion, and over-the-top drama. I’ve never loved him more… or laughed harder.
So if you’re ever thinking of pulling a ghost prank on your husband, DO IT. Just make sure he doesn’t have a black belt or a real weapon nearby. And maybe wear a helmet. Safety first!
